Chris DaileyFounder, The Sports Court If you know me, you know I love the NFL Draft. This year's draft is interesting for many reasons. From the QBs to the endless trade rumors. If there is one word that will describe what Thursday’s draft will be, it’s ‘crazy'. Here is my full 7 round NFL Mock Draft. I will give each 1st round player an analysis and then show you pictures of the other 6 rounds done via DraftNetwork. NO TRADE 7 ROUND DRAFT 1) Jacksonville Jaguars - Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson This pick is a lock. Unless the Buccaneers offer Tom Brady, Chris Godwin, Bruce Arians, and 20 future first-round picks, there is no chance that the Jaguars don’t draft Lawrence. His big frame is perfect to see over defenders and his arm is amazing. Lawrence also fits the role of a modern-day NFL QB as he can use his legs when needed, an aspect he will certainly need to use a lot more once in Duval. 2) New York Jets - Zach Wilson, QB, BYU Another pick that is seemingly a lock, Wilson’s arm is phenomenal. Wilson doesn’t just have unreal arm strength, his ability to throw a dime on the run is second to none. Wilson is just what the Jets need and hopefully, the Jets can build a solid roster around Wilson. With Robert Saleh in town, I am confident they will. 3) San Francisco 49ers - Mac Jones, QB, Alabama Mac Jones. Questions, questions, questions. Did he do good thanks to his teammates? Can we really judge an Alabama QB because they have the best talent? Is he out of weight? The questions don’t stop. Mac Jones is a great QB, and there is no debate he’s a top 5 QB in this class for me. I think Trey Lance would be great in San Francisco, his pure athleticism is amazing. However, I have a weird gut feeling that Jones will be the 3rd pick. 4) Atlanta Falcons - Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida Kyle Pitts is a freak of nature. 6’6, 240 lbs, and can run a 4.44. Pitts is the most explosive tight end in this draft class and will make an immediate impact in Atlanta. After catching 12 TDs last year, averaging 17.9 yards per catch, Pitts is the proven #1 in the class and is one of the highest-rated tight end prospects of all time. An interesting trade I would like to see is the Falcons offer the Dolphins Julio Jones and a 7th for the 6th pick. The Falcons get rid of a huge contract and can get a QB for the future at that 6 spots while the Dolphins get Jones and become a ‘win now’ team. 5) Cincinnati Bengals - Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon Joe Burrow has a huge line going across his knee. There is a reason for that. Burrow has little to no protection in Miami and considering the fact Sewell is one of the best OT prospects in a while, this pick is a no-brainer for Cincinnati. 6) Miami Dolphins - Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU The Dolphins have an interesting dilemma. Get Tua’s friend in Waddle or Smith, or get the best receiver in the class (although I think Smith is, Chase makes a very good case, they’re tied at 1 for me). I think the Dolphins get Chase in another step closer to competing for the AFC East. 7) Detroit Lions - Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama Personally, I like Smith better. Waddle’s ankle is a concern for me. However, Waddle to Detroit is logical. He’s widely considered the better prospect due to his size and after the Lions lost Kenny Golladay, they need a WR, bad. 8) Carolina Panthers - Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern Protect Sam Darnold. The Jets didn’t and look how it turned out. He has two years on a rookie contract so make those the best two years possible. 9) Denver Broncos - Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State This pick took me the longest to decide, should they go with Parsons or JOK or get some competition for Drew Lock. I say competition for Lock who isn’t the favorite of the new GM in Denver. If Fields is available, scoop him up like a cup of ice cream. Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy are young, exciting WRs, so get a QB that can make them shine! Interesting trade scenario: Drew Lock to the Bears for the 20, if JOK or Parsons fall, the Broncos can address a huge need at LB. 10) Dallas Cowboys - Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama The Cowboys are in a sticky situation. After Dak got injured, they gave him a 240 million contract. After addressing the QB situation, they need to find a CB. Surtain is the best in the class and it’s only logical that he goes to Dallas. Fun fact: lookup ‘Cowboys CB’ on google and Patrick Surtain pops up. 11) New York Giants - Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech Daniel Jones has been beaten up in his first two years in New York. Jones has little time to throw, let alone stand. Meanwhile, the face of the franchise, Saquon Barkley, has no holes to run in. Barkley who is coming back from an injury needs to be protected and Jones will never get a fair chance if he has no O-line. Darrisaw is the best tackle on the board and Joe Judge and the Giants should take him in the heartbeat. To those who say the Giants need a WR - why would the Giants get Golladay just to draft a WR. They got a WR so Jones has a star to throw to, he won’t be able to throw to that star without proper protection. 12) Philadelphia Eagles - DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama Devonta Smith’s route running is *chef's kiss* impeccable. All of the talk about his weight should be thrown in the trash, this is a Heisman winner we are talking of! The Eagles need a WR and they’re going to get the best in the class at 12 overall. 13) Los Angeles Chargers - Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State Justin Herbert is not a future star of the NFL, he is a current star. Herbert could win the Chargers a Super Bowl, but they need to protect him at all costs. Herbie will become a national hero if he could lift the Chargers to a Super Bowl, but it starts with the newly appointed head coach, Brandon Staley, getting Herbert the best protection possible. And that is Teven Jenkins, OT out of Oklahoma State. 14) Minnesota Vikings - Kwitty Paye, EDGE, Michigan Paye will be the first edge rusher taken and deservingly so. 6’2 and 272 lbs, Paye is a beast. The Vikings need an up-front, in-your-face defense if they want to get back to where they were a few years ago (NFC Championship game). Their offense is superb, Cook, Jefferson, Cousins, etc, but they need their defense to get back on track. This is a big year for Mike Zimmer and he better show he can turn things around in Minnesota. 15) New England Patriots - Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State Lance has it all. A strong big arm, all the athleticism in the world, and the ability to read defenses. My perfect fit for Lance is the Patriots, and he will fall right into their laps at 15. This is a pick that could turn things around for Belichick and New England. Bill has to prove he can win without Brady and succeed on his own. Drafting Trey Lance will put him one more step in the right direction. 16) Arizona Cardinals - Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina Horn is a lockdown corner and the perfect fit for the Cardinals, still trying to recover after losing Patrick Peterson. The Cardinals have an explosive offense, but the other side of the field still needs some fixing up. on Horn will help Kingsbury make a more all-around, complete team. 17) Las Vegas Raiders - Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State Personally, I think JOK will be a better NFL player than Parsons, but if there is one thing I know, it’s that Gruden does what Gruden wants to do. Parsons is a really solid linebacker and an absolute freak of nature. Parsons will need to work in the film room and study offenses and continue to work on that aspect of the game, but otherwise, he has all the tools needed to be a solid LB. 18) Miami Dolphins - Jeremiah Owusu-Koromoah, LB, Notre Dame JOK is an animal. ‘Wu’ as he’s called by friends and teammates, was one of the best players on the field in the Notre Dame vs Clemson game (first game). His strip of the RB still blows my mind. Wu’s hits cause a sonic boom and Miami is the perfect fit for him. Head coach, Brian Flores, is the Patriots ex LB coach and has all the knowledge in the world to make JOK the next best NFL LB. 19) Washington Football Team - Alijiah Vera-Tucker, IOL, USC Protect Taylor Heinicke! Seriously, the Washington Football Team has a hole at the IOL spot and Alijiah Vera-Tucker is the best IOL on the board. The Morris Trophy winner is a big, physical presence that will be a day one starter for any team he goes to. 20) Chicago Bears - Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech I have no trades in this draft, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Bears move on up to get a QB. Since I have no trades and all 5 first-round QBs are off the board, Farley to Chicago makes sense. The Bears have an aging CB room and need to upgrade it with some young talent and Farley brings a lot to the table. A true intercepting, explosive CB, Farley also returns punts. Just another plus for the Bears to draft him. 21) Indianapolis Colts - Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami The Colts are in an interesting spot. They got Wentz over the off-season and I wouldn’t be shocked if they draft a guy like Rashod Bateman, a WR out of Minnesota with the 21st pick. However, Jaelan Phillips is a menace on the EDGE, recording 8 sacks for the U last season. He’s a prospect hard to pass up and I believe Frank Reich will lean into the direction of wanting the best player at a need position for the Colts. 22) Tennessee Titans - Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama The Titans have three gems in Derrick Henry, AJ Brown, and Ryan Tannehill. Protecting those 3 should be their biggest priority this draft and drafting Alex Leatherwood is a pick that just makes sense. 23) New York Jets - Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia Azeez is a guy who has only gotten better and better since he started his collegiate career, his growth has been truly linear. 8.5 sacks last season for the star man from Georgia. New York could use an EDGE rusher to help them hit a few more QBs next season and compete on both sides of the ball. Robert Saleh, a defensive coach, will develop Azeez amazingly, just like he’s done for years on end in San Francisco. 24) Pittsburgh Steelers - Najee Harris, RB, Alabama The Steelers need some youth on their offense and help ease the pressure off of an aging Big Ben. Najee Harris is a tank. That is the easiest way to describe what Najee brings to the table. He can not just run, he can run through you, over you, around you, just about every scenario possible, he can do. 25) Jacksonville Jaguars - Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson Etienne’s cuts can legitimately break someone's ankles. A very explosive back, it makes perfect sense for the Jags, who need an RB, to pair their new star QB up with his best friend from college. 26) Cleveland Browns - Christian Barmore, IDL, Alabama The Browns have a great offense and defense, they’re truly in a perfect position to win a Super Bowl next year (did those words really come out of my mouth! Wow). I love Baker and the Cleveland offense and I think adding to their already dominant defense could do them wonders. Barmore had 8 sacks last year and was the best interior defensive lineman in the nation, he is a great value pick for the Browns at 26. 27) Baltimore Ravens - Joe Tryon, EDGE, Washington The Ravens need some tenacity on the line and Joe Tyron brings just that. Physically, he has all the tools to succeed and I have full confidence that the Ravens can develop him into a future star. 28) New Orleans Saints - Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota Bateman is one of the most highly rated WR in the class, having great hands and a way to find the endzone. The Saints have a QB in Jameis Winston, they have a good defense, but they need to find a new, young wideout. Bateman is perfect for Payton and the Saints and has one of the highest ceilings in this year's draft. 29) Green Bay Packers - Greg Newsome II, CB, Northwestern The Packers should trade up so they can help out Rodgers offensively, even jumping up a spot to get Bateman would be smart. However, the Packers CBs got exposed against the Buccaneers in the NFC Championship game and lost Aaron Rogers his chance at getting another ring. Matt LaFleur needs to address this situation and get the best CB available, Greg Newsome II. 30) Buffalo Bills - Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida Toney is super explosive and a fun WR to watch. Toney and Kyle Trask lit it up at Florida and one can only imagine what he could do with Josh Allen as his QB. This is a win-win for both sides. Toney goes to a good team and the Bills get another weapon for their young superstar in Allen. 31) Baltimore Ravens - Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa Zaven Collins, physically, is a force to be reckoned with. An All-American LB, Collins has an excellent mind for the game, totaling 4 ints on the season. He is perfect for the Ravens defense and if he can be half of what Ray Lewis was, he will be pretty darn good. 32) Tampa Bay Buccaneers Landon Dickerson, IOL, Alabama Protect Tom Brady at all costs. Don’t get a QB. Don’t waste time on the future. Worry about the present. Those are my words of wisdom for the Buccaneers who I have drafting Landon Dickerson out of Alabama. An amazing, strong, physical lineman, Dickerson can come in day one and protect Brady all the way back to another Super Bowl.
