Howdy y'all!
I'm Chris Dailey, 16 years old and founder of The Sports Court... which I hope you know if you've made it this far on the website. Through the platform I've built with The Sports Court, I wanted to do something bigger. So, in December of 2020 during Christmas time I had the idea of doing a charitable livestream for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and raised $385. It felt amazing to be able to donate that much money to a great cause! So, I fundraised more. All for the fight against childhood cancer. At St. Jude CRH, no parent has to pay a dime for medical costs and the survival rate amongst childhood cancer has gone from 20% to 80% I've fundraised over $6,000 for St. Jude CRH, through a kickball game, TSC Bday Bash, and 4 seasons of the TSC Futsal League. I'm grateful, humbled, and honored to be a small part of such an amazing cause and plan to keep on fundraising more for St. Jude CRH. In addition to all of this, I am a member of the St. Jude Leadership Society. I've been a member for 2 years and this past year, my second year of SJLS, I was a peer advisor and helped oversee about 20 kids and help them along their fundraising journey! It was an amazing experience and I recommend all high schoolers to look into joining your local SJLS cohort (their is also a national online one for states that done have one :) WHAT I PLAN TO DO I plan to keep fundraising for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and hit $10k total raised! It's amazing to see what St. Jude has done to fight childhood cancer. Kids should be out playing sports, at the park, drawing, doing what kids do, not stuck in a hospital attached to IVs and medicine 24/7. However, with that being said, the kids are so brave and inspiring to me and why I do what I do! As a journalist, I have been told to never say "words cannot describe", but words can truly not describe just how inspiring the kids at St. Jude are. I want to build a multi-purpose sports field in a community in the United States. I plan on it having the use for roller hockey, basketball, and futsal, or something along those lines. I want to build a water-well in Africa that will dig a hole deep enough to supply healthy, clean water to an African community that needs it. I want to help my friend, and TSC interviewee, Toby Tanser, in what he's doing at the Shoe4Africa Children's Hospital, the first ever Children's Hospital in East and Central Africa. I want to fundraise for the hospital and help them out in their journey as they recently opened up. In my eyes, Toby is the modern day Danny Thomas and doing phenomenal things to make this world better then he found it. I want to run a half-marathon, this is a bit more of a personal goal, but because I am going to check and update this page a lot thought I'd leave it on here. I am interested in running a marathon while in college (going into junior year of HS) These are some lofty plans and ideas, but I am passionate and want to accomplish them by the time I graduate high school. The first one I want to tackle is the St. Jude $10k mark, then the water-well, I plan on doing these while sorting out ideas for fundraisers for Shoe4Africa and then of course (hopefully I can accomplish those in junior/going into senior year), the multi-purpose sports field. Let me know what you think and if you can help out and want to donate to St. Jude my personal fundraising page is events.stjude.org/chrisdailey Thanks everybody! TSC TO DA MOON! Just trying to do my part here on this thing we call Earth and trying to do it by combining the love of a greater common good with sports, Chris
