Steven Furlano is a Canadian professional soccer player for York 9 FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) the first tier of Canadian soccer. Furlano grew up in Barrie, and worked his way up through the Toronto FC Youth Academy ranks. At only 21 years of age, Furlano has built a quite impressive resume. He's played in the USL for Toronto FC II, and is now a star defender at York 9 FC. With loads of talent, Furlano has a bright future ahead of him! The Steven Furlano Interview
2. How would you reflect on your time at Toronto FC? I’m grateful for my time at TFC, it helped me learn many lessons and also developing as a young player. 3. What was youth soccer like for you up in Canada? I feel like youth soccer no matter where you is about having fun and developing a love for the game. Without those two things you won’t make it anywhere! 4. You made your first USL start against 20k+ fans at Cincinnati, what your emotions like? Before the match I was calm and relaxed, nothing was really changing, I knew I could play and I was confident. After the match I was pretty emotional when speaking to family and friends because it was a big piece of the puzzle coming together. 5. How was your time been so far in the CPL? CPL has been more than I thought it was going to be for the first year ! The quality of the teams and the support from the fans has been amazing, I’m really looking forward to see what the future holds. 6. Biggest setback you’ve faced in your journey to become pro? To be totally honest with you, I've never used the phrase “setback”, ever since I was really young I believed everything happens for a reason. I feel everything is an opportunity and it’s up to you to deal with it. 7. Favorite movie? Lion King and More Than a Game. 8. Favorite food? Pizza. 9. Favorite quote? “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do” 10. Favorite animal? Bear. 11. Messi or Ronaldo? Messi. 12. Nike or Adidas? Nike. 13. Your favorite memory in your playing career, so far? Don’t have a favourite memory to be honest, every time I step on the pitch I always take something amazing from it. 14. How was your time playing in League1 Ontario? League 1 was great for me, keep my fitness levels up and gave me loads of confidence. 15. In three words describe yourself? Honest Winner Stubborn 16. What are you goals for the future? Biggest goal is to play in the English Premier League 17. Any last words for the readers?
